Honoring Service, Celebrating Freedom: A Memorial Day Reflection

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. For me, it's personal.
Today is Memorial Day.
While many are enjoying a day off, gathering with family, or kicking off summer, I’m taking a moment to pause and reflect. Because for me, this day is personal.
My family has deep military roots—loved ones in every branch of the military, both veterans and active duty. My husband is a proud Navy veteran, and I’ve seen up close in my family the strength, commitment, and sacrifice it takes to serve.
Though I’ve never lost someone in service, I hold deep respect for the families who have. Memorial Day is for them—for the brave men and women who never made it home, and for the families who carry their memory every single day. Their sacrifice is the reason we get to enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted.
While I would never compare my work to the sacrifice and bravery of those in uniform, having loved ones who serve has given me a deeper appreciation for commitment, responsibility, and integrity. Those values show up in how I care for my clients, guide them through big decisions, and show up—especially during moments of transition.
I’ve had the privilege of working with several families who are in the military or have military backgrounds, and it’s always meaningful to be part of their journey. It’s just one of the many reminders that real estate is about more than houses—it’s about people, stories, and the lives built inside those walls.
So today, I’m taking a quiet moment to reflect, to be thankful, and to honor those who gave everything. I’ll carry that gratitude with me—not just today, but in how I show up for my family, my clients, and my community.
To the fallen, to their families, and to those who still serve: we honor you.
If you or someone you love is navigating a real estate move and looking for guidance, I’d be honored to help.
